Mr. Kober’s practice focuses on personal injury, criminal defense, and civil litigation. Prior to joining PEARSON, BUTLER, CARSON & COOK, Mr. Kober, started his own practice where he helped litigate several multi-million dollar cases, including cases in state court and federal trial court as well as the 10th Circuit Federal Court of Appeals.
Although Mr. Kober’s criminal practice is now exclusively devoted to defending persons charged with crimes, he has experience from the prosecuting side as well. Mr. Kober has worked in varying capacities for the Utah County Attorney’s Office, Salt Lake County Attorney’s Office, and the United States Attorney’s Office. Mr. Kober also spent a summer as an extern for the Honorable Paul Cassell of the United States District Court of Utah. This experience on both sides of the table gives Matthew a unique perspective in handling criminal cases to provide the best representation possible.
Mr. Kober earned his bachelor’s degree in International Law & Diplomacy from Brigham Young University. He attended his first year of law school in Detroit, Michigan, where he was ranked in the top 5 percent in his first year class. Mr. Kober graduated and earned his law degree from the S.J. Quinney School of Law at the University of Utah where was a quarter-finalist in the Traynor Moot Court competition.
